What is cellulite? Cellulite is incredibly common and causes a dimpling effect on the skin. It is most commonly found on the thighs and buttocks due to fat cells enlarging and pushing up against the skin. It is therefore completely normal fat beneath the skin that is pushing against connective tissue to form the dimpled effect that appears on the skin. Cellulite may be caused by a number of different factors and most people will notice even the slightest skin dimpling at some point in their lives. It could be due to changes in metabolism, diet, alteration of skin tissue structure, hormonal factors, genetics and other general lifestyle factors. The most common causes are slow metabolism, fad dieting, a lack of physical activity, dehydration and total body fat. It may also be determined on the natural thickness and colour of the skin as cellulite is usually more noticeable on lighter skin tones.?
